How It Should Fit

The Bondi 9 fits true to size for most men, with a roomy, high-volume shape that easily takes a thicker sock or a custom orthotic. Fit the foot, not a brand rule — sizing can shift version to version, so go by what your foot tells you.

Thumb's widthLeave about a thumbnail's width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. If your longest toe touches the end, go up a full size to start.
Play the pianoYour toes should be able to wiggle and splay freely. Cramped toes mean size up; a sloppy forefoot means size down.
Midfoot hugThe midfoot should feel held, not pinched. The Bondi's knit upper wraps securely once laced.
A little heel slip is fineSome heel movement on early steps is normal and not a reason to size down — it usually settles once the shoe is broken in.

Is the HOKA Bondi 9 good for walking and standing all day?
Yes — it's one of the best shoes we carry for it. The tall, soft stack and wide base take pressure off your heels and the balls of your feet, which is why nurses, teachers, and anyone on hard floors for 8–12 hours keep coming back to the Bondi. The 5 mm drop keeps your weight balanced so you don't get pushed onto your forefoot late in a shift.
Is the Bondi 9 a neutral or a stability shoe? Will it work if I overpronate?
The Bondi 9 is a neutral shoe — there's no posting built into it. But its wide, built-out base under the midfoot and forefoot gives it a planted, steady feel, and plenty of people who overpronate run happily in it. Here's the honest part: overpronation by itself doesn't decide whether you need support, and support isn't only about posting — plenty of supportive shoes have none. What actually matters is your whole foot and how it loads: width, instep height, girth, arch length, and where you feel pressure or pain. (High arches can still need support — for plantar fasciitis or midfoot pain, the right contouring underfoot relieves pressure.) That's what we sort out in person at our Glendale shop, and the Bondi may well be the answer.
Is the Bondi 9 good for wide feet?
Often, yes — it comes in Regular (D), Wide (2E), and Extra-Wide (4E), and the standard width already runs roomy and high-volume. But "wide" is a blanket term, and the foot is three-dimensional: width is only one piece, alongside instep height, girth (the distance around the foot), and arch length. A foot that's broad at the ball might be average everywhere else, or need more room over the top than across. Your foot should sit on the platform without spilling over the sides — and if it spills, go wider, not longer. The surest way to get it right is to have both feet measured and looked at in person in Glendale.
Is the Bondi 9 true to size?

How many miles will the Bondi 9 last?
Plan on roughly 400–500 miles of running before the cushioning is worn down, which is typical for a max-cushion daily trainer. The Durabrasion rubber outsole is one of the more durable around, so walkers and all-day wearers often get many months out of a pair. When the soft, springy feel fades, that's your cue it's time for a new one.
