Tortoise & Hare Sports is an independent running specialty store and an active part of the West Valley community. Since 2012, we’ve built our reputation on exceptional service, unmatched product knowledge, and authentic relationships.

Our team doesn’t simply sell shoes. We solve problems, teach customers about their feet and footwear, support local events, and create experiences people remember.

You don’t need to be an elite athlete—or even identify as a runner—to thrive here.

Some of our best team members come from backgrounds in retail, hospitality, education, healthcare, coaching, fitness, and customer service. What matters most is that you enjoy helping people, want to keep learning, and care about doing excellent work.

What It’s Like to Work Here

Working at Tortoise & Hare Sports is active, personal, and different every day. You’ll spend your time connecting with customers, solving real problems, learning about footwear and movement, and working alongside people who care about doing things well.

Depending on your role, you may:

• Guide customers through our personalized Fit & Foundation process
• Learn about footwear construction, biomechanics, fit, and product technology
• Help runners, walkers, healthcare professionals, first responders, and families
• Support community runs, races, educational programs, and local events
• Work with leading footwear, apparel, and accessory brands
• Help receive, organize, merchandise, and maintain our products
• Contribute ideas that improve the customer and employee experience
• Develop skills that can lead to greater responsibility within our business or the broader running industry

New employees receive hands-on training in customer service, footwear fit, product knowledge, movement, and store operations. Learning continues through staff education, vendor clinics, product testing, coaching, and real-world experience with customers.
