Event FAQs
Everything you need to know before your first run with us. Still have a question? Give the store a call.
Do I have to be a runner?
No. Every event we host is run/walk friendly, and most of our regulars walk at least part of the route. Our fun runs have a 1-mile option alongside the longer distance specifically so nobody gets left behind.
How fast do I need to be?
There's no pace requirement and no cutoff. We named the store Tortoise & Hare for a reason — embrace your pace.
Do I need to register in advance?
Yes, for every event, including the free ones. Registration is how we know how much food and drink to order. It takes about thirty seconds and there's no cost for free events.
Are your events free?
Most are. Our fun runs and group runs are free, and we provide donuts, drinks, or pizza depending on the event. Ticketed events like the Holiday Lights Run are priced to cover refreshments and a donation to our charity partner, and the price is always listed on the event page.
What if I register and then can't make it?
Please cancel your registration 24–48 hours ahead. We order food based on the headcount, so a no-show means we've paid for someone who isn't there. Canceling is quick and it genuinely helps a small business — no hard feelings, we'd just rather know.
Where do events start?
Almost everything starts and finishes at the store: 17570 N. 75th Ave, Suite 605, Glendale, AZ 85308, in the Shops at Arrowhead Gateway. Parking is free.
Can I bring my kids? My stroller? My dog?
Yes to all three. Strollers are welcome on every route. Kids under 12 should have an adult with them, and leashed, socialized dogs are welcome. If an event isn't kid- or dog-appropriate, we'll say so on the listing.
What should I bring?
Yourself and shoes you can move in. For evening events, a headlamp or blinky light and something reflective — a lot of our fall and winter routes run after dark.
What happens if the weather turns?
We run in most conditions. If we cancel, we post it to Instagram and Facebook by early afternoon that day.
Can my brand or business partner on an event?
We work with brand partners and local businesses on most of our larger events. Reach out through our contact page and we'll talk.
