How It Should Fit

The Clifton 10 fits true to size for most women, and the v10's roomier toe box and double-lace lock make for a secure, comfortable hold. Fit the foot, not a brand rule — sizing can shift version to version, so go by what your foot tells you.

Thumb's widthLeave about a thumbnail's width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. If your longest toe touches the end, go up a full size to start.
Play the pianoYour toes should wiggle and splay freely — the wider v10 toe box gives them room. Cramped toes mean size up; a sloppy forefoot means size down.
Midfoot hugThe midfoot should feel held, not pinched. The jacquard knit upper and double-lace lock wrap securely once laced.
A little heel slip is fineSome heel movement on early steps is normal and not a reason to size down — it usually settles as the shoe breaks in.

Width: available in Standard (B) and Wide (D). Your foot should sit on the platform, not spill over the sides. If it spills over, go wider — not longer.

Sock tip: a medium-thickness running sock (like Balega Hidden Comfort) pairs best.

Why this Shoe Works

A smooth roll from heel to toe

Early in a run, the MetaRocker geometry does the steering — the Clifton 10's gently curved sole tips you forward so each stride rolls instead of thuds. It's the unfussy, repeatable feel that's kept the Clifton a daily driver for a decade. Smooth in, smooth out.

Steady underfoot, by design

Wider than the Cliftons before it, this version plants a broad base under your foot and adds a rearfoot Active Foot Frame that cups your heel. The result is a neutral shoe that feels calm and secure with no wobble up on the cushion. Planted and predictable, mile after mile.

More cushion, more forgiveness

Taller than older Cliftons, the Clifton 10 stacks 38 mm of soft CMEVA foam under the heel with a higher 8 mm drop — a combination that's easy on the calves and Achilles and forgiving for heel strikers. It also carries the APMA Seal of Acceptance. Comfort that holds up all day.

Built For How You Move

Your steady daily trainer

Easy miles are the Clifton 10's bread and butter. At a relaxed pace on Glendale roads, the smooth rocker and soft stack make repeatable training feel effortless, day after day. It won't make you fast — it'll make showing up easy. The shoe you reach for without thinking.

All-day comfort on hard floors

Long shifts are brutal on feet, and the Clifton 10 is a favorite for them — light for its cushion, breathable up top, and planted underfoot from the first hour to the twelfth. Nurses, teachers, and West Valley walkers swear by it. On your feet all day, feeling it less.

Long runs without the pounding

When the miles add up, the taller stack earns its keep: the Clifton 10's cushion stays consistent past the 10-mile mark, and the higher drop keeps tired calves happy. A dependable partner for half-marathon base-building. Goes the distance, stays comfortable.

Who Is the HOKA Clifton 10 For?

The HOKA (women's) Clifton 10 is for the runner or walker who wants a smooth, cushioned, no-drama daily shoe she can put on without thinking.

It fits easy-to-moderate mileage — daily training, long slow runs, and base-building rather than speed sessions — and suits neutral gaits as well as anyone who just wants a planted, stable ride from a wide base.

Beginners love how easy it is to run in; heel strikers appreciate the higher 8 mm drop; and the wider toe box and wide-width option make it friendly to a broader range of feet.

It's also one of our most-recommended shoes for nurses, teachers, and West Valley folks who spend long days on hard floors.

Who Should Skip It

We'd rather point you to the right shoe than sell you the wrong one. Skip the Clifton 10 if…

You want a soft, bouncy ride

The Clifton's CMEVA foam is smooth but firm, not springy. For real bounce, the Nike Vomero Plus or Brooks Glycerin 23 use softer, livelier foams.

You want speed or race-day pop

It's a daily trainer, not a fast shoe. For workouts and racing, look at the Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 or Nike Vaporfly Next% 4.

You're heading off-road

It's a road shoe. For trails, look at the HOKA Speedgoat 7 or Saucony Peregrine 16.

How it Compares

Nike Women's Vomero Plus Purple running shoe with Nike logo on a white background

HOKA Clifton 10 vs. Nike Vomero Plus

The Vomero Plus is the bigger, bouncier shoe — a ~45/35 mm stack of energetic ZoomX foam at a 10 mm drop — versus the Clifton's lower 38/30 mm of smooth, firmer CMEVA at 8 mm. The Clifton is higher volume on the upper, a slightly larger toe box and more stable; the Vomero Plus delivers more cushion and real pop for long runs.
Choose the Clifton 10 for a stable, no-frills, daily trainer. Choose the Vomero Plus for a plush, bouncy max-cushion ride with more energy return. We carry both.

Brooks Women's Glycerin 23 white and pink running shoes with black laces

HOKA Clifton 10 vs. Brooks Glycerin 23

These two now share the exact same 38/30 mm stack and 8 mm drop, but they ride differently. The Clifton 10 is lighter (8.8 vs 9.5 oz), firmer, and smoother-rolling, at a lower price; the Glycerin 23 uses softer, bouncier DNA Tuned foam and a plusher knit upper for a more premium, cushioned feel.
Choose the Clifton 10 for a lighter, smoother, trainer. Choose the Glycerin 23 for a softer, plusher ride . We carry both.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the HOKA Clifton 10 good for walking and standing all day?
Yes — it's one of our most-recommended shoes for it. The cushioned stack and wide, stable base take pressure off your feet, and at 8.8 oz it stays light through a long shift. Nurses, teachers, and anyone on hard floors all day do well in it, and the smooth rocker keeps you moving with less effort.
Is the Clifton 10 a neutral or a stability shoe?
It's a neutral shoe with no posting — but the v10's wide base and rearfoot Active Foot Frame make it feel noticeably steady, more so than older Cliftons. Whether you actually need more support depends on your whole foot and how it loads, not just whether you "overpronate," and it isn't only about posting. The surest way to know is a quick fit session in Glendale.
Is the Clifton 10 good for wide feet?
Often, yes — the v10 widened the toe box, and it comes in Standard (B) and Wide (D). But "wide" is a blanket term, and the foot is three-dimensional: width is only one piece, alongside instep height, girth, and arch length. Your foot should sit on the platform without spilling over the sides — and if it does, go wider, not longer. Best to have both feet measured in person.
Is the Clifton 10 true to size?
For most women, yes — order your normal size. Leave about a thumbnail's width past your longest toe and make sure your toes can wiggle. The double-lace lock helps secure the midfoot, and a little heel slip on the first few steps is normal and not a reason to size down.
Is the Clifton 10 breathable enough for Phoenix?
Yes. The Clifton 10 uses a breathable jacquard knit upper that keeps air moving, so it stays comfortable on warm Phoenix mornings, on the treadmill, and through all-day wear — and it breathes more freely than HOKA's plusher, more structured uppers. For peak-summer speed work a thinner racing mesh will feel airier, but for everyday miles it's a comfortable warm-weather pick.
What changed from the Clifton 9 to the Clifton 10?
Quite a bit. HOKA added stack height, raised the drop from 5 mm to 8 mm (its highest ever), widened the toe box, switched to a breathable jacquard knit upper, and added a double-lace lock. The foam is the same CMEVA, but there's more of it, so the ride is taller, smoother, and a bit firmer and more stable — and the shoe is heavier than the 9. If you loved the old soft, low, lightweight Clifton, the 10 will feel different; come try it before you commit.
How is the Clifton 10 different from the HOKA Bondi 9?
The Clifton is the lighter, lower, more everyday shoe; the Bondi is the taller, softer, max-cushion one. The Clifton 10 sits at 38/30 mm with an 8 mm drop and weighs about 8.8 oz; the Bondi 9 is taller (42/37 mm women's), plusher, and heavier, with a lower 5 mm drop. Pick the Clifton for a lighter, smoother daily trainer; pick the Bondi for maximum plush cushioning. We carry both and can put them side by side.
How durable is the Clifton 10 — how many miles?
Plan on roughly 300–500 miles of running, typical for a cushioned daily trainer. The Durabrasion rubber covers the high-wear zones; some exposed foam on the outsole can show wear a little sooner if you're hard on shoes, but walkers and all-day wearers usually get many months out of a pair. When the smooth, cushioned feel fades, it's time for a new pair.
What's your return policy?
Our "You = Happy" policy gives you 60 days from purchase for a refund, exchange, or store credit. Refunds need the shoes in like-new condition; worn-but-not-worn-out pairs can still earn an exchange or store credit. Receipt or purchase-history lookup required. The Clifton 10 isn't carbon-plated, so it's fully returnable (clearance and plated shoes are final sale). Online orders can be mailed back or returned in person in Glendale to skip shipping. Why Our Team Recommends the Hoka Clifton 10

We put the Hoka Clifton 10 on new runners who want something forgiving, on customers logging daily miles who want one reliable trainer, and on the nurses, teachers, and all-day-on-their-feet folks across the West Valley.

The reasons are concrete: a smooth MetaRocker that rolls you along, a wide base and Active Foot Frame that keep you steady, and a taller, higher-drop stack that's easy on tired legs — plus the APMA Seal of Acceptance for the foot-health-minded.

It's not our pick for speed days, and if you loved the old soft, low Clifton we'll tell you how this one's changed — but for smooth, dependable comfort, it's one of our safest recommendations.
